walk round the marina and have a good look . the 40 has a well designed hull shape but otherwise they are both low cost typical French AWBs. Primarily charter market boats - nothing wrong with that as long as you dont want solid woodwork etc.

I believe the Dufour xx5 range are the pure cruising AWBs, so I not sure they have the sleek hull form of the Dufour 34, 40, 44 as a redeeming feature.

Dufour 385

We bought a Dufour 385 from new in 2005. Looked at the equiv size Ben/Jean/Bav/etc ranges and just felt that the 385 had fewer significant negatives than the others.
For the past 3.5 seasons have spent approx 4 -5 months per year heading down and into the Med (currently in Greece). Have now done about 7,500nm without significant problems.
Found the 385 to be an excellent compromise between space/comfort and sailing/speed.
If you have specific questions please let me know and I'll do my best to answer.

Hi Alysa. Do you still own the boat? There's one in Greece I'm thinking about and wondering if it's yours? Thank you.
