Any Dufour 365 owners willing to comment on the practicality of the forecabin as "owners cabin". We are looking for a boat with more "owner cabin" space esp not under the cockpit. This has lead to considering older centre cockpit boats like Moody 365 etc. but the Dufour looks an interesting solution in a similar length boat.
Do you use the forecabin as the main cabin or is the berth a little narrow?

Thanks for advice.

We looked at the 365 as a possible replacement for our Bavaria 37. The ambience in the forecabin is very pleasant, but the bunk is narrow and can only be rerached from one side.

The best "owners cabin" boat of that size is the Bavaria 38 Ocean as it has an island berth in the aft cabin. Some of the later smaller Moodys like the 38 also have an island berth, but most like the 346 and 37/376 have berths on one side.

We met up with a French couple on a recent Brittany cruise and became good friends.

They used the forward cabin ...the two stern cabins were used by their children.

They loved their 365 but she made the point that if she needed to go for 'pee-pee' in the night she had to climb over her husband.

He, with a Gallic twinkle in his eye, said that on her return journey he used that manouvre to good effect :D

She blushed:p

Hi Bob, we have had a 365 for two seasons now, one of the things that attracted was the forecabin (fed up with sleeping in a tunnel). Although we are not massive the berth is plenty big enough, it tapers slightly at the foot end ,the design is great and gives the space of a much larger boat. In general we are very satisfied with the boat, the build quality is very good she's quick without being tender. We have covered a lot of miles in it and had no warranty issues. Having owned a selection of boats over the years I would certainly recommend one.
Regards John

I have Dufour 36 Classic which I think has same forecabin arrangement.
This cabin is the thing that sold the boat to us, best of any make around 36'
Can roll out if heeling hard on port tack as no leecloth but otherwise great.
Plenty of light and space and storage in mine.
