There was an article in PBO about Sadolin water based acrylic paints and their like. Although they were considered unsuitable as a top coat below the waterlineon a boat kept afloat, they may just fit the bill for a "dry sailed" punt. Supposed to be very easy to slap a fresh coat on to refresh or patch in any scrapes, too.

The only down side is that although they're supposed to be available from so-called DIY stores, nowhere in Blazingsmoke goes in for such things.

Like the look of the punt, should be very easy to paddle although there's more skill in the sailing than meets the eye, I guess.

Try 'Brewers' by the large Morrisons on the old Thorneycroft site, pretty sure they are nationwide, they list Sadolin on their website

The paint they talk about is 'superdec' its not very robust, ok for backs of lockers and bilges, but it doesnt take a lot of knocking about.

Magic, love the last bit of sailing a punt.

When I refurbed a Mirror dinghy years ago I bought a big pot of undercoat and a tin of exterior gloss from Woolies.

When I last saw it ten years after application it was still in pretty good nick.

With the demise of Woolies, Wilkinsons is now my coatings purveyor of choice.

Woolworth's paints were very good and made by Macphersons who are now part of the Crown group

Thread drift alert.

Which magazine always used to rate Woolies emulsion paint several grades above Crown paints, when at the time they were both made in the same plant, with the same batch Nos and the only difference was the label on the tin.

.

But when was that? How does it tie in with the History of Macphersons
