ducati gearbox seal

can anyone advise whether the rear gearbox seal on my ducati 9hp can be changed without dismantling or seperating the gearbox from the engine? Went to add oil to find it runnung back out the bottom. If I remove the shaft coupling, undo the big nut inside the flange, can I remove old seal with hooked wire or suchlike and press the replacement back in?
