Having spent last weekend with freezing cold feet I bit the bullet and purchased some second hand Dubarry boots on Ebay, cost me £125 but wow are they worth it! Spent the morning in a workshop with no heat, feet were like being in a toaster!
I guess other makes are available but if you looking for a pair of boots for Christmas I would reckomend Dubarry.
I have nothing to do with Dubarry but just very pleased with my purchase.

I got mine from SWMBO at Xmas a couple of years ago :D

Excellent boots, no complaints, much cosier than my old rubber Gill seaboots...

Dubarry boots get my vote too.

But I recently met a chap who had been sailing in Antarctica. His preferred footwear was boots made for people in the food trade who spend a lot of times in storage freezers. V cheap, he said, and highly effective.

Dubarry boots are great!

I'm a bit disappointed that the new ones can't be re soled though.

But if they anything like mine it'll be 15 years before they need it.

fourth winter in them

One of the best buys, bought them in Gillingham Marina £160.00
I think they are still same price there........

I have a pair that is absolutely brilliant but their service is not.A few years ago I sent them to be resoled but the soles used are at least one size too small which is causing the leather at the tip to peel off.I never wore them and put them in a cupboard for two years or so.Recently I sent them an email (and then another) explaining what the problem was and asking where to sent them to be properly resoled but so far no reply.I'm not happy.

Your experience is totally opposite to mine, I found their service excellent and am very happy with my re furbed boots- as good as new.

Maybe you should have called them two years ago....

Still, I'm entitled to a reply.

' entitled'..

How long ago did you contact them? I called and spoke to them, then completed our business by email and found their service excellent .

TBH , when I was running a business I would not give time of day to someone who had not bothered to contact me in the two years since they'd had an issue.

Give them a call?

I didn't complain.I just stated the problem and asked where to send the boots to be resoled.I never gave any indication that I wanted the work done for free. But I think they should be informed that their previous repair was badly done. And yes as a customer I'm entitled to a reply. There are plenty other brands I can go to if Dubarry chooses to ignore me.
I haven't called them yet because I'm in Portugal and I would like to avoid the cost of ringing them if possible.

Mine are only five years old, hardly any wear on the soles but they are letting in water. I'm going to contact them this winter. My Goretex biker boots are still effective and I've had them nearly 20 years and they were about half the price of Dubarry's even allowing for inflation. I wish Frank Thomas did Boat boots too.

Why not try Toggi?

I got the missus some Toggis and she loves them.
