Dual morse control adjustments?

My dual morse controls have become sloppy, with the gear and neutral positions not engaging with a click as they should. It's making controlling the boat difficult. Is there any way of adjusting the controls to help? They are the classic chrome plated styles ones, original to the boat 1975. Thanks!

undo the side plate screws and remove them they interlock, plain to see. Then adjust the cables at the trunnions.

A ball bearing and some strip springs provide the "click". Often this gets sloppy and the balls fall out..... all will be obvious once you get them apart.
