I am replacing my ageing vhf for a dsc radio, I have Ratheon equipment and intend on upgrading my chart plotter (ratheon) to a C80 with Radar/aid etc., Is it best to stick with Raymarine or is there a good DSC cheaper that is as good without too much hassle in intergrating.

I was going to say that if using a Raymarine VHF there is the advantage of using the Seatalk interface for sending and receieving data to/from the plotter. But I notice from the Raymarine website that the C80 has the following function:

"On screen VHF DSC position reports (when connected to compatible DSC VHF via NMEA,)"

So, as this function uses NMEA then I would say there is no particular advantage to go with Raymarine for the VHF and that any VHF with an NMEA interface for receiveing data from the plotter and (if required/available) sending data to the plotter would be fine.

Bought a RAY54E a few years ago & am pleased. It had no advantage in terms of connecting a GPS since it takes NMEA.

What it did have was an easy to use panel with nice chunky knobs. I don't really like radios with a keypad. IMO a channel know is easier especially with gloves or with cold hands. Menues are fairly intuative, although I rarely use them.
