DSC VHF controlled from handset

Next year I will relpace a Simrad VHF. I have little room for the main box so would prefer a style like the Simrad where the main box is buried away below and everything is controlled via the handset. Do any exist?

Yep the SIMRAD (RS82)! We have it with 2nd station kit installed - one handset on each side of the bridge.

As well as the Simrad RS82, there's also the Simrad RS86/87 and the Raymarine 240E. If you want to spend more, look at the Skanti. If you want to spend less, consider the Standard Horizon VM3500E or the Navman 7110 - these latter two have ordinary main units but have full-function wired remote handsets.

Don't forget the Skanti will need to go back to a dealer to have the MMSI number re-programmed.

ICOM also do one for the 600 model.
There was a YM review about 2 or 3 months ago which looked at VHF's and one of the comments was that the reviewers liked the command mikes.

Whilst the M601 will not allow you to control the DSC from the Handset it is well worth waiting till the Boat Show in January!!!!!

Other than that my lips are well and truly sealed!
