DSC Alarm

In Port Hamble and someon's DSC keeps going off, They dont seem to be around to cancel it. Hope its a quite night for the CG or we'll have it all night.

Sorry to be dumb, but what do you mean by 'DSC going off'?

When the Coast Guard gives out a Pan Pan or other emergency a very loud alarm sounds on DSC VHF's which needs to be manually cancelled. The CG messages is also very loud while this is going on. Thankfully the alarm eventually stops.

Not quite true. Anybody in distress can cause an alarm to go off on everybody else's radio if they are in VHF range.

An alarm doesn't "go off", it "sounds" (or "rings"). When it "goes off", it's finished sounding and is silent.
