Following last year's lets say "less than successful" attempt at drying out Pdream II at Bradwell, I really want it to be one of the things I can become confident in doing before the end of the season. She draws 1.9m. What are the options now we are based at Shotley ?.

SYH's scrubbing grid has quite a handy structure which is more like a quay than the traditional two telegraph poles. It is also connected to the shore which is very useful.

Done it a few times at SYH.

Easy Peasy.

My berth is only 50m away & no-one has had any problems there as far as I can see.

I always use the outside (western side) option.

The entire scrubbing grid bottom is concrete & (if you have an encapsulated keel) usually free from potentially damaging debris.

Alan, I have used the scrubbing grid at SYH. From my experience I think you will have to choose a day close to springs to make sure there is sufficient range of tide. I only draw 1.5 m and I only just got in on the day I chose. Then I was a bit worried as I only just got out again. Other than that it is quite well set up, just motor in then tie up to the platform, little bit of lean and lots of fenders. Think it costs less than £20 for use of it for one tide and I seem to remember the Western end is favoured.

The water no sooner disappears than it comes straight back again (obviously). I found best way to scrub was to launch the dinghy and scrub as the water went down from the dinghy. Electricity and water are available on the platform for pressure washer if required.

Pin Mill?

New posts and GRAVEL rather than mud. I am not sure how the council intends to charge (there are rumours) but maybe a small sum to Gus at kings and your sorted. Reward yourself to a pint at the B&O afterwards too.
