My steel yacht has a 5m beam and weighs 30 tons. Most places that I've called nearby either can't lift her because of her beam or her weight.
Does anybody have any recommendations for long-term storage on the hard that would be able to accommodate my boat, preferably close-ish to Brighton? If they can cope with/supply soda blasting, that would be a bonus.

SYC could probably get her on the NW slip. It certainly has the weight capacity. They seem to be amenable to longish stays there and blasting has been done in the past.

If that fails, Shoreham harbour have a dry dock which I have seen used for similarly small craft, but I've no idea of the prices.

I've definitely considered SYC in the past, but I'm going to need an extended storage period (2 years). I don't think they'd be happy with me occupying their slip for that period (definitely worth considering for the blasting though)

If you hired the crane you could probably put it on the hard, but I think boatyards are having trouble with ground surveys nowadays...

I have not seen a 30T /5m boat hoist anywhere locally - maybe ask the hoist manufacturers to whom they sold big ones?

Can you get or make a yard trailer such that you could dry her onto it using the east slip then tow into place? (with a pretty substantial tractor unit I'd guess)

How about docklands/Tilbury?

Emsworth Yacht harbour have a 50tonne travel hoist..

Depends on your draft, but on a good tide they do shift around some deep drafted long keelers.

Another vote for Hayling Yacht Company, I'm on a pontoon there and they have some large steel boats on the hard there, would imagine they could cope with your requirements.

Thanks Channel Sailor, Birdie and northwind, definitely worth looking into.

I draw around 2m, so I'll check limits at Emsworth
