drop nose pin for main sail car

the top of my main has a ring which is used to attach the halyard.
the ring then needs securing to the car.
at present i have big shackle for this job. the main is a big fat topped one, getting it all in position and not dropping the shackle / pin is a bind.

so, use a drop nose pin :

any one have experience of these ? is it likely to stay in if the sail flogs, not much chance of that as it's fully battened and very stiff, but . .

or, do you know something better ?

Can,t you use a shackle with a captive pin, widely available, eg Wichard. A retaining bar for the halyard would be a further improvement. Try, say, Aladdins Cave
