Does anybody else own a Disco 3000 on this forum? I am looking at fitting an electric anchor winch and possibly changing the anchor locker to make it slope and give me a bigger space for chain drop. I am after ideas? Thanks.

I've had mine for more than 10 years now. I still use muscle power for raising the anchor, though I know other owners who've fitted electric windlasses. They've managed to do so without big changes to the anchor locker, although the motor impinges on forecabin space a little.
The normal considerations re fitting an electric windlass of course apply - heavy-duty wiring, a battery mounted close to the motor and so on...
If you're not in a rush I may be able to get you some photos of the installation in 3-4 weeks' time.

Thanks for getting back to me, that would be great if you could send some pics. I bought mine 18mths ago, ex charter yacht, but have only been on her for 3 weeks. She is the tiller steered version. Any mods or problems you have overcome or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
