Drive cover

I have a bolt missing from the cover on my Volvo penta dp-e drive. Can I fit a new one in the water or will the boat need lifting

I would not fit a new bolt if it is under water it will act as a hydraulic pump and my crack the casing

Thats not the case with the cover it isn't into blind holes, should be possible in the water no problem if you can reach it ok.
