Drinking water

Spent time messing about on the boat over the last few days. And drinking lots of water for rehydration purposes! I uncovered the fresh water filling pipe from deck fitting to the tank, what a mess it was, loads of black gunge inside it and this after constant additions of purichem and other such potions.

Very glad that I stuck to my regime of only drinking from a separate portable 2 gal tank which is regularly cleaned. As these pipes are almost always tucked well away on most boats I wonder if you have checked yours recently. Maybe worth having a look, particularly if you draw your drinking water from the fixed onboard water tank.

A good dose of Potassium Permanganate works a treat, then flush the tank through 2/3 times. The water takes on a faint purple tint for a while but this is harmless. The water tastes superb.

You've been drinking loads of water out of Muckyfarter and your still here yet. Anyway water is already millions of years old so I would not think another year or two would make much difference. In Saudi Arabia they pump it up from miles underground and they recon it's been down there foe thousands of years and it aint gone off yet!!

A mine of useless information thats what I am. A raindrop falling on the ground and making its way to the sub-aqua stratas in the UK can take 10,000 years. A large willow tree drinks 6,000 gallons of water a day in the spring.

1,there is no safe drinking water aboard any boat smaller than a channel ferry in the uk.
Private boats don,t comply with any uk/international regs regarding the quality of drinkining water,
the general rule is bring your own.....Bottled

We only use onboard water for washing up. All consumption is bottled.

Fornication is out of wedlock, so the fish might be married and just enjoying conjugal rights. We should not rush to judge them. After all where do all the little fish come from?

Also, did you know that a glass of water has already passed through seven other people on average. They also say that if you drink piss it turns you insane so I guess we should all stop drinking the stuff before it's to late..............mother, is that you.......what pretty colours on your rabbit...............full moon again Mrs.

I have one of those general ecology filter thingies, with a seperate tap, which draws from the main tanks, I use it for all drinking and cooking, makes great tea! It filters everthing out, no need for bottled water, even in the med, where water quality is a touch questionable, even takes the chlorine out which they put lots of in, in the ballearics.
