Hi All,
I've just got round to dismantling the water filter on my new (to me) sailing brick, and found a string wound element approx. 3" diameter and 10" long. There are no helpful markings on either the element or the case to search the web for, and all the chandlers I've shown it to have sucked their teeth and shaken their heads saying "no, never seen one of those".
Anybody know what it might be and where I could get a replacement?

Thanks,
BS

(I was going to post a picture of it, but have failed to discover how to do this.)

drinking water filter - Worthwhile

Do filters make a difference. I don't have any and have never been upset by our water. We do not have big tanks so we actually cycle them quite often I guess.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but if you have fitted a filter would you ever go back, or do you think it was a waste of money but you might as well keep it now?

Re: drinking water filter - not Worthwhile

yeah, good point, ii have a filter, load of rubbish. I think it will take the filter out as it probly more dangerous to have a filter ful of cack rather than drink small qtys of cack each time and therefore build up my resuistance to it.

There was a General Ecology filter fitted to our boat when we bought it - the PO has sailed round the world and swore by it. We never used to drink tank (or tapwater, actually), preferring bottled but honestly the water out of the General Ecology filter tastes every bit as good as the best bottled water. Wouldn't be without it now, must save a fortune and is much more convenient.
