I have these little sanding disks in a kit of 'Dremel' tools from Halfords. I looked in vain for a rubber backing pad but there isn't one. The disks are only paper so I'm a little reluctant just to screw them to the general purpose mandrel (which is what the Dremel website suggests). Do any of you savants have some experience of this? I'm sanding a little bit of brass (I can't get at it with the cylinders by the way).

The ones I have seem to work OK without a backing pad. I suppose the high speed centrifugal force keeps them flattish, you don't need to apply any real pressure.
I don't think mine are genuine dremel though.

I use these wretched things every day. They don't have a backing disk. I use a clip on mandrel with clip on disks. Moore's Disks also Kent Dental paper disks for supply.

PS. You need to make sure that the disks are compatible with the mandrel diameter. They only cost a couple of quid each.
