after visiting 2 pershing 37 in post apocaliptic state ..... and dealing with a broker that tantamounts to a teenager with a laptop
i have set my eye on a 2000 sarnico 45 maxim with a pair of man 401 .... a proper good looking craft with a tidy and very fastidious owner
is this boat really that much of a finacial blackhole to run ? anybody with experience of sarnicos , general build quality , reliabilty of those man's/drive etc
across the pontoons a really nice 2005 absolute 41 with a slighly higher price tag , d6 310 dpl ....... im i missing something here ???
your collaboration greatly appreciated
and ah
happy new year everyone , wishing you a happy and prosperous 2016 with 50p/litre diesel :o

A sarnico 45 with MANs they will be 600 hp -12 L is a proper boat and will not be a money pit as much as the Absolute with d6 and external steering rams .
The Sarinco i suspect is a carefully well built hand crafted boat with mostly sold Bulid up -that will stand bigger seas at ease ,guessing a deeper Ve - dead rise -cos its got 2x600 to push it along .
MAN 6 clyinder engines are excellent and can be ecomonic at D speed if you want .- no issues that I know of and I have researched them and had an uneventful year clocking 60 hrs ., on the later 2003 -700 hp versions
How ever the Absolute I suspect is fabricated with more short cuts cheaply and will rattle and slam
This is because with 2x310 to get this to plane it will flatter aft sections ( dead rise ) = bumpy ride + wet ride .
An old pair of DPH legs + external steering rams + VP D6 ,s - water in the drives and new bellows every two years + much more -
Have a look @both tap the hulls ,look at mouldings under the floor and quaility of engine room instal ,like fuel tank ,s and fire extinguisher systems .,cabin soles ,port holes and other components .
First and last time I walked on the cabin sole of A41 ( at sibs ) it creaked -flexed and the cub boards latches seemed like something from a dolls house .
Sarnico is a proper old school Italien build hull with a proper engine instal .

The Pershing's weren't great then? Have you got links and a bit more info as to what was wrong with them?

ok .... seen 1 in mallorca ... cat engine , battered beyond belief , high price and described as mint ( man they were taking the mickey ) .... windscreen totally shot .... med boat , no generator no aircon . broker said dont need it !!!!! hot mallorca day = cabin like a tandori .. perfect for asphyxiating mother in law in minutes
smoked like the orient express , cost of refit 40k at least ... which will make absolutely no sense at all ... reluctance to take out to sea despite boat still in use .
second one ...... totally fishy deal , couldnt produce vat paid evidence . got really shirty with questioning , terry tibbs dealer .... seen the boat ...... mint my a@$%^
third deal ...... broker from mallorca , claims he is in bed with the bank that ownes it , claims of slow paced italian financial institution , claim of this claims of that ...... dissapears from radar , then a week later one member from the forum tells me of a horror story with this broker ..... i feel his pain
so i kept looking ..... however 37 pershing slightly too small for my liking
so there you have it spent a grand plus just looking at wrecks . and wasted hours talking to amateurs
i think i got my priorities right now ...... and starting to gauge who is a good broker and who isnt then we talk boats because doing it on the "cheap " with med outlets ...... way too risky for a novice like me in my opnion

We spent 5 days just before Christmas in Mallorca looking at boats and one broker who we contacted at least a week before we went to arrange to view a boat . The day before we arrived he contacted us to say he could not get hold of the keys ! We did have some luck with other brokers but most are a joke when you enquire about a boat your lucky if they even know where it is ! In the end we did a deal with fairline south Mallorca .
