Anybody got one? Can I get away with a standard shaft outboard or does it have to be long? Only for berthing in sheltered inland waters.

Thx

On my wooden lugger, a std outboard only just peeped below the hull. Long would be best but you might well get away with a std shaft........ might not be able to tilt it up though as the prop might foul the aperture in the transom.

Just got an e mail reply from a friend.

He has a 5HP honda 4 stroke with long shaft. He also remarked that 6HP is the max recommended due to hull shape.

Hope this helps.
