A pop-up ad on this website is advertising Drake's Island in Plymouth Sound for £6m.
Good value ?
It's about 6m more than I can afford, but for a rich guy in the Southwest it might be a quite fun to own - and good for. the social distancing thing...

It seems to come up for sale almost every year.

Local news iirc has been talking about it being developed into a hotel complex within the last 6 months or so. Maybe the current crisis has changed the plans. But £6m seems pretty steep for a small island with problematic access.

Probably doesn't have water, electricity, sewage, internet ?!
Can't remember if there's a good harbour for mooring yachts ...

It used to be a residential outdoor pursuits centre with sailing canoeing, climbing and the rest. Youngsters arrived from all parts of the country, Probably very expensive to run and I think the Council were glad to be rid of it when Thatcher gave them the opportunity. It was always open to the public with a regular ferry. Tricky to imagine that any other country in the world would put something like that into private hands.

A local bloke bought it last Autumn with big plans for redevelopment, it would not surprise me if he has got cold feet and decided to bale out...........however the website may just be an out of date "ghost".

Everything we know about the man who's bought Drake's Island

.

Maybe Bear Grylls would like another island, he could make a whole new TV show there ;)

Is it for sale again? Thought plans were in place for big things.
Drake's Island
Good moorings of the NE but snaffled by the MoD. The Long Room will let you use them if you ask nicely.
