Thanks for this information. I have to leave the boat for 2-3 months at a time on the mooring, worrying about batteries and doggy bilge pumps and lift switches.

By dodgy I mean my lack of confidence in them working when needed.

Having another look my boat weights 12ton.It will need some kind of bridge between the ends to stop the pump being torn apart.

I have been thinking about the load of a 12 ton boat connected to this pump and I do not believe it will work. In fact it said it is only good for 1ton

However if you were to connect it to a bucket dropped over the side on say a 10 meter chain, would the wave /wash action activate it?

That might work, I don't think you'd need 10m of chain though, just enough of a resistance to hold below the surface of the water.

If your 12 ton boat is pulling more than a couple of hundred kilos on a mooring line .... it's already sunk!

In Poros bay we frequently see wind of 6-8 even 10 bf .in some gales that come through.
The manufacturer's instructions state up to 1ton load.

My boat weighs in at about 12 tons. I am not clever enough to work out what loads would be exerted on the pump,in these circumstances especially any snatch load.

I was thinking how I could use the pump and came up with the idea of fitting it in a vertical plane, using a submerged load .
