Dragon in Fowey

'er indoors seemed pleased at first when I told her that the Royal Navy had named a type 45 in her honour. She was not so thrilled when I showed her the pictures....

Yes, but have they got anything to shoot with or is it just for show for the next 15 years while the MOD sort out yet another screw-up?

Way over budget so we could only afford half the planned number; twice the price of the French equivalent which uses the same primary weapon system and also has extra secondary weapons; with 48 missiles should be able to defend itself against the first four Iranian FPBs, but stuffed if they send five or more. Main reasons for existence: proper navies always have destroyers, and otherwise the navy might have to depend on these new fangled flying machines (oops, can't afford those anyway after spending so much on the Type 45s). Still, no doubt BAE Systems have made some money from them, and we all know the real reason we have a defence budget is to keep defence workers employed.

My concern with the new type 45 is at 1 billion pounds a pop... If I accidentally hit the damn thing I am gonna be seriously underinsured.

I realised this whilst gybeing in close proximity to one moored in Plymouth sound...

You may well jest.

SWMBO discovered that the kids she was teaching at one school called her "the old dragon"
