Does anyone have any experience of using Dr Led bulb replacements in Aqua Signal series 41 and 40 nav lights? I am toying with the idea of using them, especially the new tri colour masthead light and anchor light.

Have got Bi/stern and Tri from him- the seem to be well made and have an the required output. The White is still quite blue in hue.

Just make sure if you have you get the right bulb for a bicolour light - there is one for Aquasignal 40 and one for the 41 - the sectors are the opposite way round as the 41 is a top mounted bulb.....

The tri colour and bi colour lights have coloured sectors that match the lanterns, with internal screens to give a good cut off and with the offset pins of the BAY15D fitting the alignment seems to be good - there a far more red led's than green and white to get the red intensity up to the same level

Ordered from the US in Dollars - delivered direct from Hong Kong with a suitable value on the customs declaration - and apparently they were a gift! - so that there was no VAT or Duty

There didn't seem to be a UK source as yet - though I did find one in Sweden!

Tony,

The coloured leds should be used with the same colour lens and the tri colour bulb replacement has coloured leds to match the lens arrangement.

There are also seperate green and red leds and a bicolour red/green bulb replacement.

I am in Mexico and will acquire these from Downwind marine in San Diego from where a friend will collect them. However, Downwind Marine is a company run by cruisers for cruisers and they will ship anywhere in the world. You can visit their site at www.downwindmarine.com
