Hi everyone, I’m trying to replace the bushings on my DPE steering helmet but really struggling to get the helmet off. Iv got everything undone which you need to but it appears seized.

Has anyone faced the same thing and how did you solve the issue?

On older outdrives the best solution was to apply heat and copious amounts of penetration fluid overnight.
Assuming your DPE is the same ?????

Once the steering arm is released. the yoke should just fall out of its plastic bushes.
If you have enough room( fat chance) a metal drift and decent flogging hammer can persuade the yoke shaft to part company with the clamp on the steering arm after releasing the pinch bolt.
This has involved a 4.5k bottle of butane and a gas torch although one of those small gas torches might do the job.
All at your own risk of course and you might prefer to get somebody in to do the job.
Biggest problem ......not scorching/setting fire to surrounding materials but tin of Trilux can hide some awful sins.
