We are on vacation, done ruffly 200nm in a week and are in the south of Denmark on our way to the Rugen island on the german coast.

Twice in a few days and after longish trips I've noticed the starboard outdrive gearbox being difficult to disengage.

Once disengaged it changes gears completly normal.

I assume the cones have started to wear out?

If indeed this is the situation I would appriciate any advice as to how long/gearchanges/engine hours/etc it could take from when it starts to show problems until they stop working??

Thx/

Sounds like a linkage problem somewhere could even be in the controls and not the leg.

The sliding shoe can wear or the sping behind it break causing it to float about in its housing it also has to be shimmed correctly if a new shoe is fitted.

Thanks for the advice...you are probably right. Cecking it again its not like there is a delay in the gear switching. Its the control that seems to get stuck.

I'll dismantle it and see if there is anything visible and grease it up a bit (remebering I used light oil this winter becouse it was a bit heavy to use)
