More woes with my friends project. Before launching, we tested in / out of gear no problem.
Launched yesterday. Sealine 305 Statesman with 2 x ADAQ41 connected to DP290 (Well, could be an earlier model, but duo prop).
She went into forward / neutral fine. Put her into reverse, and would not come out.
Disconnected linkages etc. - I went diving. At the gear selector, she is stuck in reverse, but with some wiggling will go half way between reverse-neutral, but reverse gear still engaged.
We're going to take her out this evening and remove the gear selector cover to see if anything amiss, before taking more apart.
My theory is that the cones are stuck together. This happened the other out-drive out of the water, but managed to free it with wiggling and covering in gear-oil. We removed the out-drive for this.
Any other theories? The boat had been left abandoned for 8 years. We don't know the state of the cones etc.
Happy for any input, conspiracy theory or not! Either way, I suspect new cones will be needed all-round, as when I click into gear, nothing. Then, when I rev up.... clunk! Symptom of worn cones, I think?
