Found this on Merchant Navy site and thought it had to be a wind up.

Know that there are many ex seafarers looking in here.

Yes I know that a Doxford Economy engined ship of around 7,000 tonnes could cross the Atlantic on 60/70 tonnes of heavy oil which cannot be matched today, but never thought of good old daisy Doxford being green!

No reason why they can not be made green. The J is not a new ngine and was developed prior to the closing down. It was a higher speed enginbe mabe 150 RPM ad there should be films of it on the web. This could be a modern development with electronic controlled ignition.

Many happy hours spent with the 3 cylinder economy engine with steam auxilliaries which burnt 7 tons of fuel a day for 7 nots and 10,000 tons displacement also the 4 cylinder with lever scavenge and the 4 cylinder turbo P type. Interesting engines and great fun sorting out spherical bearing clearances.
