Does anyone know of an official (as opposed to amateur) source of waypoints as a downloadable file(s). These are all printed in Reeds, for example, but not to my knowledge available for direct download (almanac producers please note - could be a sales hook).

I have most of Reeds South East waypoints in a file, but that probably counts as amateur.

The last time I checked the almanac writers were all shying away from publishing waypoint files because is would work around the caveat of "always plot the waypoint for youself" to make sure you are happy with it.

If there were such a thing and we all downloaded exactly the same waypoints, can you imagine the congestion around some of the more popular ones /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Would think very hard before accepting someones elses waypoint chartwork other than the Admiralty.
I think you need to be careful, as you dont want to download the exact waypoint or you will bang into the mark you are seeking. Offset it one way slightly to avoid hitting it from a particular direction will mean that you are prone to hitting it from many other directions.
For instance I have North and South approach waypoints for the Whitaker Beacon in the entrance to the Crouch, as I may be approaching it to get out of the Crouch (North), or maybe coming up Black Deep to round the Beacon (South) to get into the Crouch.

So it depends on your viewpoint really.
