This is a great book, written by a pioneer 19th Century sailor, one of the first ' Yachtsmen ' as we would recognise today.
The seamanship described handling mostly large heavy traditional type boats with rigs to suit and anchoring outside harbours then rowing miles to get ashore is what remains in my mind, and of course the episode where he dismissed his couple of paid crew as ' too lazy ' and sailed his large gaffer back singlehanded, a feat said to be impossible at the time...
