HI all.
After reading about those who would like to visit this fairest of isles this comiong summer and especially for TT week and just happening to be in Douglas, and naturally having the camera to hand, I thought these pics might be of some interest.
Sorry for the rather dull look of the pics but the weather was just B Awful. I have sterted at the top end of the harbour, where all the new pontoons have been installed. worked my way down one side to the lift bridge and up the other side.
OK.
1 looking across the top end of the harbour to the new pontoon ramp
2 Looking from the top end down.
3. Further down
4. Furtrher down.
5. Looking towards the lift bridge.
7. Looking back toward the pontoons. This part is the pool where most Visitors berth, as you can see almost all the pontoons are taken
8. Looking from the lift bridge across the pool to the pontoons. There is quite a bit od space here but it is where all boats go through in and out of the harbour.
9. Looking from the lift bridge to the outer harbour. This side dries as I am standing on the lift bridge which has the flap gate under it. Flapgate down about 2 to 3 hours either side of HW
10. Back up the other side to the Yacht Club building.
That gives you some idea of the inner harbour space. True there is space below the bridge. but it's a long walk to the town. However, he said brightly......Come to Port St Mary. 24 hour access at the Albert pier... Lots of buses that run late into the evenings should you wish to visit the fleshpots of Douglas. There is some infor on the Isle of Man Harbours website. but if I can help just PM me..
Have a great summer.
Drew.
