Picked up this image from the recent S28 thread of Flowerpowers immaculate state of his ER .

Noticed the orientation of the double hose clips highlighted with the yellow circles .
I had some professionals from the local yard replace my various black pipes .Although I have no pics they are all double clamped except one , the screw part is facing the other way .The tech put them on with opposing orientation and the clips 180 degrees apart , not next to each other .

The others on other pipes are opposing orientation too and the clips 180 degrees apart

Small point but any reasons why ?

I would always offset the crimps as they can pinch the hose and result in a potential leak.
Having the crimps 180 degrees from each other around the pipe and close together, then alternate tightening each one a stage at a time should reduce the chance of this.

Putting two on in the same orientation seems to doubly load the hose at the same point. Maybe it's due to access when the engine is fitted?
Maybe putting some sort of lubricant on the inner part of the clip would help mitigate this too? As long as the lube doesn't eat the hose!

I suspect 180 degree hose clips are more relevant on smaller diameter hoses but I expect someone who knows what they are talking about will be along to confirm or deny.

Pic is not the way I would do it but I doubt it actually matters.
+1.
I'd rather blame VP for not using proper heavy duty clips like the one below - not that they are alone in this, mind.

Cummins use a constant torque hose clamp, has a heap of belville washers under the screw so although you can overtighten them, it's a lot easier to set them right and not damage the hose..

On topic though I doubt it matters either but I always put them 180 apart if I can... If only to make me happy..

Well, you live and learn, as the old saying goes.
What I just learned from someone who knows much better than myself is that nut and bolt clamps aren't necessarily better, because their design inherently creates a tension which is akin to closing the top of a "U", as opposed to the more evenly distributed band tension of jubilee clips.
Of course, the latter aren't all created equal - i fact, I did experience the odd total failures upon tightening with some of them, also in non-nautical usage.
And I have a funny feeling that most of the cheap stuff which can be found in hardware stores are just Chinese junk.
But it's rather a matter of how well designed and built jubilee clips are, than of replacing them with nuts and bolts type.
I found the following video enlightening, and I thought it was only fair to post it, for balance with my previous comment.
