Dave some numbers of this parish is currently on passage to Cape Verde and asked me to copy and paste this from him:

“Middle” of the N Atlantic 1545hrs.
On the AIS I see a vessel doing 2.9 knts ahead of us, “Hope” is the name displayed on my chart plotter. Intrigued as to its type, especially as I can’t see it even though it’s less than 2 miles away. However, at 21ft long and 6 ft wide it’s not the biggest thing out here. I call on the VHF… it’s a rowing boat with double amputee Lee Spencer heading for French Guyana in about 50 days! Makes one reflect on the 6 days we have left to run to Cabo Verde’s in relative luxury! Check out his website; lee.spencer.co.uk or his Facebook page “the rowing marine”, he’s raising funds for two charities - the Royal Marines charity and the Endeavour Fund. Be great if everyone could get behind him and support. We’ll certainly be donating and wish him all the best.

Thanks for the reminder. He is amazing. I’ve heard him being interviewed quite a few times, always matter of fact in his replies.

Thanks for this, just had a look at his website, he's not letting a little thing like a leg off stop him achieving!

I wrongly assumed a military tour somewhere nasty was the cause of his amputation, turned out to be on the M3 helping a stranded motorist.

Worth a look http://www.leespencer.co.uk/about.html
