The thread title refers to a famous landmark usually by another name. I was was told its other name recently, now I can't un-see it
Last Sunday Helen decided she'd walk to Swanage from Weymouth, a mere 32 miles along the South West Coast path (a warm up for walking around the IOW this weekend). I took the boat.
This has been our first and only trip this year apart from a 3 or 4 short rides out in Weymouth Bay. As the fouling on the hull and sterngear had built up quite considerably so rather than try and push the boat through thick water I stuck to around 8 knots and around 2200rpm, normal cruising around 15 knots and 3200rpm and take in the scenery.
All these pics were taken that day btw
Weymouth Bay
Winston Churchill's Brothers old house. Apparently Winston spent a lot of time here during the war.
Durdle Door
Plan A was to stop in Lulworth Cove for a cup of tea but as you can probably see by the waves on under the sailing boat, I think I would have spilt it.
I've never anchored in Mupe before, and what a glorious find, sheltered from the S/Westerlys and wonderfully inaccessible.
St Albans to Peveril Ledge. The tide can chop the water up on this leg.
