The sea area enclosed between Lulworth Cove and Portland Bill will be closed-off to navigation over the entire duration of the Olympics. There will be no 'right of free passage' from mid July through to early September. Full details can be viewed and downloaded at www.sailingalmanac.com.
This information will have implications to all cruising yachtsmen wishing to cruise the West Country this summer.

In addition, the Weymouth Harbour Authorities will be charging on average 1000% above normal seasonal berthing rates for visiting yachts over the Olympics.

Doset coast open to navigation over the Olympics

As Twister Ken points out , this has been well covered on this Forum.
To summarise:-

The Restricted Ar#ea is contained NW of a line from Grove Pt to just west of Lulworth with a Precautionary area a few miles SE of that. The full restriction on sailing in the Bay is from 27 July to 12 August and only from 0800 hrs to end of racing daily. The restriction on overnight berths from 16 July to 9 Sept is essential as Weymouth can get just about full up in an ordinary summer of good weather. Craft on direct passage east or west can pass well clear of any restriction of any kind and outside race time the Bay is open to navigation. The Paralympic restricions are for Portland only and from 31 August to 6 September.
