Hi lynn.. I reckon you would be very lucky to get booked up at this late stage.. but try Set Sail flotillas.. we had 2 weeks booked with them early July and cancelled as we bought a boat of our own,so they might still have the cancellation available. Good luck!!

Lynnj,

is it that deep gulf with Knidos/Cape Krio on the southern promontory ? and the so called Cleopatra island at the very end of the gulf ?

We ve been there a few years ago: Meltemi is often strong and blows W so directly into the gulf, it might take a bit of windward sailing to come out of it.
Cleopatra island is nice, but extremely crowded with big gulets bringing loads of daily visitors; beware near the island are some shoals which are more extended than shown on the chart, as my keel still remembers.

I did not visit the rest of the gulf, seem to remember there are Pergamon ruins nearby.

Loved Knidos, just round the corner of the promontory: a nice cove with a greek theater on the side, plenty of broken clay vases on the sea bottom.

No Roberto, the gulf your are talking about is the Gulf of Gokova. Knidos is at the end of the Datca peninsula which is to the north of the Dorian Gulf, otherwise known as the Gulf of Hisaronu.

There are plenty of great places to visit in the Gulf of Hisaronu including Knidos, Palamut, Datca, Orhaniye, Selimiye, Dirsek, Bozburun, Sogut & Bozuk Buku. Don't miss Ogun's Place, Ove Buku. He has a web site here.
If you have longer, you can carry on round to Marmaris, and then on down to Gocek & Fethiye Bay. Do a two week, one way flotilla from Orhaniye to Gocek (with the prevailing winds).

I have always found the Gulf of Hisaronu to be more sheltered than the Gulf of Gokova. You may get the odd day of F6 and above, but mostly it is around F4, sometimes a lot less. Temperatures are typically in the high twenties. However, predicting the weather anywhere in the world these days is becoming more uncertain than winning the lottery!

I shall be out there in June/July doing just this route - can't wait /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
