Past 12 months have certainly gone down in my mental record book as the wettest and drearyest
I can remember. Mind you amongst the sludge and flotsam I have aquired 2 kayaks and a little pram dinghy.
Wow - Every single river or stream I've seen this weekend is running at bank-top, roads aren't draining with puddles everywhere and now the inevitable flood warning!
Wait! Something has just happened. The rain has stopped and there is daylight but it is strangely brighter and warmer than I can remember. And birds are singing. To the west the sky is bright blue. Just waiting for a dove to bring a bit of twig back
I bet anyone here £5 that we'll be boating on the Thames and laughing about the past weather by Easter weekend. N.B. bet limited to first ten takers and if I win I'll send the £50 to the J.D.R.F. But really, there can't be any more rain left up there.

Fingers crossed here at Bray, too, as we have our club trip to Sonning at Easter . . . .
Huge amount of surface water here at Ashmount all this has to eventually drain off and find its way out to sea. Even before the current downpours (and Snow) there was tons that hadn't drained away.
