We thought about it, dreamed about it, put it off, couldn't afford it, and then thought bugger it, lets do it, and now here we are snugged up safely in Moana Marina, Galicia, Northern Spain, it is half past midnight, we have just finished dinner in the cockpit, it is 28 degrees, the water is like a black mirror, the lights of Viga are twinkling as a backdrop, the radio is tuned in to a funky Spanish samba station, the cold Rioja cost us 1 euro 50 a bottle and is flowing freely. If you have ever dreamed of long distance cruising, don't put if off any longer, do it now. If we can do it, anyone can.

Very true. How many keep putting it off till retirement, then unexpectedly get hit by ill-health or something, end of dream? They say only about 2% of those who dream of long-distance cruising actually do it. Congratulations, and fair winds.

If only I could get rid of the house I probably would just go.In this maket I'd end up paying the bank so I'm stuck. And then there's the family .Don't think SWMBO would go along with it.Must get another one...

Congratulations on the begining of your adventure. As you know it is easier to make excuses not to go rather than go. When you do as you two have you then wonder to yourselves why you didn't do it earlier.
We started out about three years ago. It took us over a year to get where you are now.
If you want ideas of places to go on your way down have a look at our website

If there is any help or advice we can give just drop at line or PM
Have fun!

ferroboat,

congratulations and have fun !

Take Note folks ! When I was a technical photographer for British Aerospace one of my lesser tasks was photographing retirement parties.

I soon learned a pattern; hard working people who said " I'm going to put my feet up and take it easy now " were usually dead before I could get the party photo's to them !

Those who had plans - such as making kit cars or aircraft, and often including sailing to the tropics - are still around.
