Ho dear I,ve wasted £70 ,my boat horn, which is a single trumpet, was getting a bit weak so decided to get a new one.Tried mending the old one but unable to take apart.Managed to get an identical one to save drilling etc.Took the old one home and thought that as an old bugle player I would see if I could get a tune out of the trumpet.Removed trumpet and blew but blocked! Found the far end blocked by a load of cotton wool material.Bloody spiders!!

Had the same on some mobile homes a few years ago. Took ages to realise the problem and sort out.

Still at least they were seagoing spiders...well, they'd all been round the Horn anyway..:D

April 2010 I returned to the boat to find a mass of spider webs. OK They'll all go as soon as I start sailing, thought I.
November 2012 I took the boat out of the water - still spiders and their webs - they've done night on 4000nm around the E Med, including beating up against the meltemi from Crete through the Dodecanese and Cyclades back to the Ionian/

Conkers. Horse chestnuts are said to repel arachnids. Haven't tried it myself, though the garage which may become my winter-boathouse, certainly needs thorough de-spidering before I'll park a boat in there...
