Dont forget the ISS tonight

There is an earlier, longer (6 min) transit visible from the UK tonight too apparently...

Begin - 20:46:30 Direction - WSW Elevation 10 deg

Maxim - 20:49:41 Direction S Elevation 74 deg

End - 20:52:52 Direction E Elevation 10 deg

The Progress 47P is also visible tonight:

PROGRESS47P Wed Aug 15/09:30 PM 6 min duration, max elevation 89 deg, rises 13 deg above W sets 10 deg above E.

Edit: Yep, the ISS was very brightly lit tonight ;-)

The Progress Support vehicle will be following the same orbit at 2130... should also be brightly lit tonight. :)

Would this explain a very bright light I saw towards the south and traveling west to east last night between 2100-2200, Glasgow area?
It definatly was not a plane as it was a fixed bright light.

Progress is much smaller than the ISS so not so visible.

ISS will be back over UK at about 2223 for a 4.5 min bright transit.

Thank you for that info.. With the sky not quite dark and also standing in a brightly lit marina didn't help...

What a beautifully clear night though :)

Strange, that's not listed for ISS on Heavens-Above (http://www.heavens-above.com/) which is where I have gone for years for such data. But the 22:22-22:27 pass tonight is listed, with a maximum altitude of 85 degrees.

There was a pass listed to 74 degrees at 22:55 on the 9th.

Mike.

I think there have been 2 or 3 visible passes every day since then... your linky doesn't list them?

Go outside right now and look up!!
