I ordered Reeds Almanac from Aphrohead Books on Jan 24. They came up on Amazon UK Marketplace as the best price. On Jan 26 I was told:

The following items were sold by and shipped from aphrohead_books in package 1 of this shipment:

1 of Reeds Nautical Almanac 2012: Mit Marina Guide 2012

However all that arrived was the Marina Guide, no Reeds Almanac.

Aphrohead refused a refund until I shipped the Marina Guide back to them, which I did on 1 March.(Postal receipt available)

They now deny receiving it back, and still refuse a refund. Very frustrating, especially as I had to bear the cost of return post, and the Marina Guide probably has no commercial value on its own, as I have pointed out to them.

So be warned, but your Reeds Almanac somewhere else.

Any advice on next steps welcome - I sail out of Dublin

I have a feeling that I had a problem with this firm- a book for my wife on knitting-in stock and credit card was billed immediately-maked as dispatched.
Several weeks later and no book and I was informed that it was out of stock. Then a delay in getting a refund as book was for my wifes birthday which had passed!
I complained to Amazon who appeared totally indifferent.

Complain to Amazon. They are very good and you get a quick response. If enough people complain about a company they will have to do something.

Not quite sure what Dublin has to do with it unless you are hinting at Provo pals. In which case you will definitely get your money back, possibly plus a kneecap. Otherwise it rather depends on how much aggro you are prepared to put up with for the money lost. There is no way that someone could mix the marina guide with the complete almanac so its not worth reasoning with the supplier. Best route is via credit card if thats what you used and assuming you have the same laws about CC as we do over here. Failing that - Amazon.

A mail to the MD has produced a result, so thanks for the suggestion Parsifal. A refund has been promised plus €6 towards the cost of return post.

I thought the Provos had disarmed, they are more likely now to look for your vote. We never saw much of them in the South. Imentioned Dublin because we are foreign, with the Euro and all, and have our own Postal Service, not the Royal Mail.

Thanks for all replies

I ordered 2 books from this company over 2 weeks ago. One of them didn't arrive. The other, they decided to send me the audio book on cassette even though I ordered the paperback. (I don't even own a cassette player).

I attempted to contact them using their contact form on the website, but I have been ignored for over a week now. They have given a really poor service and I have raised a dispute through my card provider.

I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
