We start 2 weeks holiday today. Do I introduce SWMBO to a force 6 on Sunday or leave it a couple of days before crossing the channel?

Even simonjk has'nt put a forcast in this week!

Hi Etap,
I am excatly in your "waters" re SWIMBO and mini SWIMBO (2 & 1/2). I think we might well be enjoying some quiet anchorage till Sunday pm and then see how it goes...

Enjoy your hols, I am off in a couple of hours /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Would it not be better to ask your wife, perhaps a bit of GC1 has rubbed off on you /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I hope to take my other half to Yarmouth the weekend of the 15th. What ever you do have a safe trip and enjoy your holiday.

SO its you, you [--word removed--]. I'm off on a small ship to Cork from Plymouth on Saturday evening and not looking forward to the trip. Hopefully you're steering clear of the southern Irish sea for the next couple of weeks??

If your SWMBO is anything like mine then a quiet day or so stormbound in the Beaulieu river, or somewhere equally picturesque, is better than a glorious bash to windward (remember it's southerlies Sat p.m./Sun a.m.) followed by a week of recriminations. Monday should herald a decent strength westerly and the world, or at least Normandy and Brittany, is your huitre. Have a nice trip.

We are going down to Hamble point on Sat for an Etap get togther, then watch the weather.

I've been watching the weather develop over the last few days, first I was going to St Vaast then when the wind forcast changed to S-SW, I changed my mind in favour of the West Country, now it looks like Monday could be the Channel Islands! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think I'll do my passage plan once we are underway, its only then I'll have an idea where we are going. Just want to get out of the Solent!

Did the trip to Cork last year from Gosport, great sail once we rounded Longships, we'd had a head wind till there, then f6 on the beam all the way to a pint of the black stuff in Crosshaven!

You have a good trip too.

Thanks, tho' the good ship Terschelling is not going to be as much fun as a sailing boat. I hope the russian cook has got her sea legs this time. Looks like a S-SW6-8 tomorrow night down channel then SW-W5-7 decreasing 4-5, on the nose from Lands End to Cork, so lots of rolling followed by lots of submarining. Still, at least I'll get paid for it!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif See y'all in a month!

I'm off, Hamble-Cork; but not till Sunday pm or Monday, so hopefully the worst will be over. However, the sites I've been looking at say SW or SSW on Monday, which is bang on the nose down to Lands End /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
