Domestic water not pumping need help quick

The domestic water system on my Targa 40 has suddenly decided to pack up for some reason – when I turn on a tap or try to flush the loo nothing happens! The electrics are all on and I can’t see anything obviously wrong…anyone any ideas? I’m supposed to be taking the kids down to Torquay this afternoon but without water it’s a pain in the butt…

Either a pump failure or a pressure switch failure as far as I can tell. Maybe if it's a pressure switch failure you can wire a little switch in and switch on when people need water (as a temporary thing of course)
Alternatively a couple of jerry cans of water....don't let it spoil your weekend.

Some pumps have built in pressure switch,you may have to replace pump.
Get a decent one with decent pressure.Definately search round for prices,same unit can vary wildly in price.Caravan shops cheaper)Dead easy to fit usually come with assorted plastic adaptors,all you have to do is first find the perishing thing.
 
Bl@@dy weather!!!! Rain and wind stopped play, had to go to m-in-law's instead...grrrr...hoping to get down one evening this week instead when things have calmed down a bit. Will keep you informed of what is wrong.!

As Rob mentions, before attacking anything check the fuses/cb's, it will have one somewhere. Is it the same pump for the taps as well as the loo - no, so it's the electrical supply or the lack of it.
 
Check the filter which can get blocked its inline with the pump and can be blocked, take it apart and clean the wire filter.

On mine, the pump is located under the rear of the rear bunks, save you looking maybe.
The breaker is on the main panel in the galley with a label for water pump and shower but the loo is on an auxilliary as I have fresh water flushing.

With both switches on and water in the tank, it should work. Also worth a look... In the rear cabin wardrobe, (port side) there's the main locker with all 'heavy duty' 12 volt breakers for windlass and fans etc. the water pump may have a main feed from there too.

Failing that, I'd go to the pump.

Question for you, when you remove the water filler cap, do you hear air rushing in as though there's an air lock and the tank hasn't been venting properly. Mine does this and its quite confusing as the overflow vent works normaly and I don't seem to lose pressure when taps or shower are in use. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yes my Sealine does this as well, strange isn't it? Like yours, It doesn't seem to cause any problems but a mystery nevertheless.

Yes I have a fresh water flush too but its on the same breaker switch as the shower pump. I had it retro fitted as it was previously a sea water flush and smelt dreadfully.

Great idea - I'll take a look at these, although I hadn't looked at the heavy duty 12v panel as I'd assumed (maybe wrongly) that the water pump didn't require a heavy duty supply.

I get exactly the same - a rush of air when I open the deck filler cap - it's like a vacuum has been created in the tank, but quite why this should be I'm not sure as there is a tank vent which overflows when full with water. Odd.

Thanks again for all replies - especially Roger - I'm hoping to get down to Torquay to get this sorted in the next couple of days and will report back what was wrong...thanks again. Rob
