What are the other top 5 or 10 things you would do to your vessel before you offer it for sale, to get the best price?
1. Clean
2. Polish hull
3. Whip ends of lines.
4. Clean or wipe down engine
5. Change engine oil
6. Make sure all electrics work.
7. Remove personal contents.

Would you sell the trailer separately?

"To get the best price" I would remove all valuable add ons and sell them separately but in reality I very much doubt I would actually do that. Too much hassle and a bit questionable in some ways. When I sell something I normally just want it gone and settle for a very reasonable price for an easy life.

Take photos and get someone to critique them then go back and fix the observations in the photos
Surprising what one misses

Spray the whole thing down with Patio Magic, including the sails. The lack of green on a second hand yacht goes a long way.
Replace the hoses to the head , and make a point of mentioning this has been done.
Check every bulb on board works.
Organise any spares on board and photograph them - the new owner will be happier knowing you were on top of spares and maintenance
Update the log with all maintenance, ideally with a separate page for the engine

Prepare a dossier of receipts for any work done or consumables bought. I would not sell a trailer separately if it was part of the original purchase and needed for a trailer sailor type of boat.
If sails are stored in sail bags, and not folded neatly, I would refold on land and put back in bags, as usually they will store smaller.
If the galley has a miss mash of plates, bowls and mugs, I would consider a low cost, matching set to improve the aesthetics.
If there is a deep bilge, a good scrub to clean up any dirty sides, especially on an older boat, at least around all areas easily accessible.
Any running rigging that was worn, or mooring lines that are shot, I would consider changing if an issue - but that could be an expensive task for little return. Cockpit locker and lines stored, cleaned, ordered neatly and coiled.

You know the score, would you be more inclined to buy a manky, worn out boat or a clean, neat boat.

Spend some time going round the boat with the eye of someone wanting to buy it. We spent two months on board before selling our Sadler and I tried to see it as a buyer would the whole time. One of the best things I did was to remove all the screws on show, especially around the heads and clean properly before replacing with clean shiny screws. Upholstery is one of the items that looks tatty when old but there may be little you can do other than give it a good clean/shampoo.

The boat to be done up would be a centre console outboard powered boat, so no interior work needed.

Maybe a thorough cleaning, buffing and polishing and some lemon scented Clorox through the bilges.

lustyd I don't know what Patio Magic, is.

Have not seen it for sale out here.

Ah sorry, yes it'll probably not be available and you probably wouldn't need it. It sorts out any green bits on decks and canvas, but they won't go green in better climates!

Sell it with trailer. (Sold as seen)
