bought a boat, oyster 16, bare hull inc trailer. what engine, inboard... outboard...??

anyone had experience putting shafts in a boat like this, good hollow keel, so shouldn't be too hard to do. failing that iv'e a good chrysler 30hp outboard on remotes... bit too powerfull but it'd do. (i'll need to put the transom in anyway)

so i'm looking for a small petrol or diesel inboard, gearbox, and associated bits.

what you got lurking in the shed??, if you know me, you know i don't mind repairing stuff... any stuff.. or if you don't know me...i don't mind repairing stuff... any stuff..

regards, steve.

New 2 cyl Perkins on Ebay.co.uk - but needs complete marinisation - it is the base engine that the Volvo Penta 2010 is based on.

Easiest way of getting power to water is outboard and you don't have to worry about putting a hole in your boat. You probably won't be able to get spares though for your Chrysler if it breaks, unless you try Bill Higham Marine in Manchester.

Other outboards are available in abundance at http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk

Good luck.

how about twin Mercury/mariner 4 stroke / 4 hp outboards with seperate tanks? seems like a perfect set up for the boat in that area - and you can take all the gear home after every trip!
Not sure if Barry's is a long shaft the same as mine though.......
