Dog bite and a liveaboard rower grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

A Collie that probably felt threatened by two solid powerful labs, on his territory. Two dogs loose will revert to pack mentality no matter how domesticated or well trained you hope they are.

I'm sorry, but think both owners are to blame here. Border Collies are never reliable at the best of times and I think one of your labs should have been on a lead to diffuse the situation before it started. Too many times I see two or more dogs, especially siblings, go into 'pack mode'. One solitary dog will feel threatened by this behaviour and retaliate. I suspect you got bitten by trying to break up the pack and not by the Collie randomly launching itself at you?

A dog bite and fight is never an enjoyable experience and I have much sympathy for you, but in my experience two, solid, powerful dogs should be viewed with caution on any walk. BTW are your dogs castrated? If not, why not? It saves a lot of hassle...

And to ask if the boat if registered is not ironic. Just petty.

Petty...perhaps. But less vengeful than pressing charges ...in my opinion.

Nobody has mentioned that it would be wise to visit a hospital after a dog bite.

I was once bitten in Greece (own fault, trying to make friends with a fierce guard-dog on a chain.). I went to a pharmacy the next day to ask where the hospital was, the pharmacist smiled and pointed over the road. She gave me a phial of Tetanus booster to take with me, saying come back and pay if you need it, which I did. Somewhat relieved they didn't have Rabies on the island.

You should come to Burnham On Crouch.. we have been attacked three times walking our Lab down by the marina..Last time a tricolour English bull terrier came out of nowhere and mauled our boy which was on the lead, The owner (SCUM)gave us a false name and address, 24 hrs later and £700 worse off we brought him home from the vets, luckily we insure our dog or he would be in a grave in the back garden... local police not interested of course !.. owners of these dogs are thick as two short planks.. Needless to say we and a few others will not go there anymore, The park ranger who I know well says that the problem is totally out of hand and attacks are a daily thing.. In my opinion as soon as a dog OFF LEAD attacks another dog or person it should be taken away and put down.. Harsh you say ? How long till a small child is mauled or killed.. Makes my blood boil
