I posted this film last night and this morning saw that some-one had commented on it

"The only other thing that comes to mind that make me choke up as much as these videos is maybe listening to the Chancel Choir boys singing in the cathedral. I have tears running down by cheeks as I try to type this. God bless."

this was filmed at the top of the Alde just by Iken Cliff - low tide just as the flood was returning - February just after first light - Xacti camera

Was the piano playing aboard the boat?

There isn't much, that a pianissimo score cannot evoke in viewers...reflective melancholy, evolving into a glorious uplifting coda...

Nice film. But play it again with just the blocks rattling and a spot of chilly dawn chorus...and there won't be any high emotions!

I split my big toenail longitudinally on the companionway step 3 weeks ago. Came bloody close to crying but settled for a session of Anglo Saxon language practice!

The frustration of a slightly incompetent rigger at the top of my mast trying to pull obviously tangled wires through the extruded conduit nearly had me crying too! Sorted that one out by letting the halyard slip an inch! ( kidding, but wish I had )

slow tacks

The slack in the forestay and the time it took you to sheet home the jib brought tears to my eyes.

it is rather odd - I always think that I do some pretty sharp tacks until I actually watch them on film

I am sure that for rew of us our tacks are seldom as sharp as we think they are

as for the slack forestay

on a longer beat then sheeting in the main straightens it up wonderfully

however, it is the slg which has a very weird rig

masthead forestay - but less than fulll length genoa

no back shroud

Lower and Upper Troublesome can make anybody cry!

(the naughty thought occurs that the video stops at this point because Dylan incorrectly turned right and went on the putty... but I'm sure he would not do that!)

Seriously I thought you were handling the Slug rather welll, there.

Yes, but not with boating, breaking my ribs and realising it's heavy work maintaining your own boat, and relying on others who you have helped in the past to your own detriment at times, let you down! Thank god for older brothers!
Music very apt
