We have a dual watch gas detector aboard. I'm not a great fan as the sensor is not waterproof. However rather than completely replace the unit I'd prefer to replace the sensor if possible. Given recent events on Windermere like many others I though I should get it working again. Having said all of that I cannot seem to see the brand anywhere on the Internet. Have they gone bust/disappeared?

They no longer retail the product - am unsure why.

I will dig out the number for you for the company owner (Derek, if my memory serves me well) - he was very helpful when I needed a replacement so I bought two.

BTW the bilge sensor is for gas. the CO sensor is in the main body.

They are great units and were well priced - pity they stopped.

EDIT: Yer tiz... Marine Care Ltd, The Granary, Hatham Green Lane, TN15 7PL Main phone: 01474 855699

I didn't like them anyway as if the sensor gets wet it breaks. Not suitable for a marine environment then? Anyone got suggestions for suitable replacements?

http://www.nereusalarms.com sell waterproof replacement LPG sensors for their alarms. However they are £60 + VAT and I don't know if they would be compatible with your Dual Watch alarm.

They are (EDIT: nearly) all damaged by water, just RTFM and mount it in a suitable place :)

Mine is under a bench seat, there is a 15mm gap all round for the gas to get in.

As earlier poster said, they are not all damaged by water. Nereus alarm sensor is waterproof. Doesn't pick up CO so I have a separate alarm for that.

Nereus also do a dual LPG and CO alarm - I've just bought one. And their LPG sensors are waterproof so can go in the bilge, where Gas would end up. And they're a UK company, based in Poole. Why not have a shoofti at the website?
