I need to book a week in Marina Koper with a lift onto transport at the end of the summer and the language barrier is proving a problem. Any body who could translate for me would be great.
No, peas is 'grahi'. Come on, come on, it's quite obvious!
To lift or raise is 'dvigniti' as in 'dvigniti sidro', to raise one's anchor.
You could try 'Prosim, jaz zelam colni dvigniti', which, plus or minus an ablative or two means roughly (I think): "Excuse me. I want to lift my boat". I can't do the accents here but the z in zelam is as in the French 'Je', and the c is like the English 'ch' (as in charter).
Here's a useful bit of info: Slovenian has the singular and plural like all less-endowed languages but also the dual for twos of anything. All agreeing in case and number. Guess why I gave up trying to learn!
Jez - have you thought of Portoroz as an alternative? Very friendly folks, English spoken, web site has details of what you need too http://www.marinap.si
I have recently visited for an overnight stoip and originally intended to use this as a lift out onto transport point. Van De Wetering are there every week if you need good value transport too.
I have now got hold of Marina Koper. I am using Van De Wetering and it was they who suggested Koper. Thanks for the tip though, I might well visit by water during the week befor the lift.
