Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction here, my manual for my thonycroft T20 says not to use any other oil apart from CD spec, I belive this has been superceded by CH-4 spec oil, the engines been sitting for over a year now (brand new) and I would like to change the oil before attempting to start it up, I have searched the forum for an answer, couldn't find anything difinitive for thornycroft, so mabey something like 10w-40 semi synthetic? I think the manual(which I don't have on me) said 5w-40, but that's just the temp range I think, any advice welcome

Regards

Pete

10 40W mineral oil to CF is still widely available, often labeled for "old" diesel cars. However CH will be fine, but don't bother with semi synthetic. I believe the base engine is a Mitsubishi. It is also used by Vetus and Sole and is similar to many other Japanese industrial engines such as Perkins Isuzu and Kubota which all use the same basic oil.
