My yacht was stolen a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering if anyone had had a similar experience and knew how long I might have to wait for my claim to be settled if she isn't found. Have tried to find out from the brokers but they very reluctant to give a time scale.

A friend said that his car was stolen and was told it would take upto three months to settle but only took five weeks in the end.

Thanks all

Sorry to hear it.

I think the time taken to agree permanent loss can vary from company to company. I know of one motor insurer who requires a vehicle to be missing for six weeks before they will settle.

The most important thing is to keep the pressure on the insurer, they are going to hang on to the cash as long as possible. So make a pain of yourself and make your broker earn is fee. You shouldn't buy a dog and have to do all of the barking yourself!

Why haven't you put it on the Swollen Goats and Beer forum here? Or don't you want it back?
